The NIATx Foundation
Todd Molfenter is the Executive Director of the NIATx Foundation. He has spent the past 20 years leading and studying performance improvement in health systems. His recent work has focused on how to use evidence-based practices to address the opioid epidemic. He specializes in the use of learning collaboratives to prompt organizational change, and has helped many clients, including the Health Care Finance Administration, Voluntary Hospitals of America, and the Harvard Risk Management Foundation to develop more effective approaches to foster change in their organizations.
Dr. Molfenter has served as principal investigator for National Institute on Drug Abuse, Agency of Healthcare Quality and Research, and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration Research grants with two Dissemination and Implementation R01 awards focused on Medication Assisted Therapy for Opioid Use Disorders. He also serves as a Deputy Director for the Center for Health Enhancement System Studies (CHESS), providing leadership in scientific direction, strategic planning, and securing funding for the center.
Dr. Molfenter has worked at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in Boston, MA, where he directed the consulting function, managed the annual conference, led new project development teams, and maintained key customer relationships. Prior to that, he served as the Director, Quality Management at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, supervising and supporting all quality improvement initiatives as they interfaced with operations, strategic planning, managed care, ambulatory network, and clinical medicine.
